Hi - Dave here.

Happy Friday!

It's been a long time since I've done a formula challenge. Let's try one!

In the worksheet below, the goal is to list the names associated with each team with a formula, based on the data in columns B and C. The result should be a list of team members separated by commas.

Formula Challenge - list names by team

[Download the workbook and read the full explanation]

Click the link above for more details and to download the Excel workbook and try it out yourself. There are two challenges included. I will post a solution to the challenge next week by May 9.

Note: This challenge assumes you have a current version of Excel that supports dynamic array formulas.

Comments

I disabled comments on the site several years ago because they got to be too much to manage. However, for challenges, comments are a great way to learn how others solve the same problem in new and clever ways. If I can figure out a simple way to do it, I might add comments back for challenges. Let me know if you would find that interesting or useful.

We maintain a list of over 1000 working formulas here.

If you need more structure, we also offer video training.

Have a great weekend!
