One of the cool things you can do with XLOOKUP is create a wildcard search. This is a nice touch when you want to make it easy to match text anywhere in a cell.

You can see an example in the worksheet below. When a search string is entered in cell G4, XLOOKUP will find the text anywhere in a book title, and return the matching Title, Author, and Year:

In older versions of Excel, you can use the same idea with VLOOKUP. However, you will not be able to "spill" multiple values into cells in the same way. The article above explains both formulas and includes the workbook. Have a look and try it out yourself.
