Hi - Dave here.

Happy Friday!

I've got one more TEXTSPLIT video for you before we move on to other things.

This time, the topic is how to get numbers from TEXTSPLIT. Using TEXTSPLIT to quickly split up text values is cool, but it can be frustrating when the text contains numbers because the numbers come back as text. If you try to sum these numbers, you'll get zero.

The video below explains how to fix this problem with the IFERROR function. We use the VALUE function to convert certain text values to numbers, and we use IFERROR to catch the error we get when this conversion fails. It's a great example of how IFERROR can be helpful:

If you don't want to watch a video now, you can read an article here.

This video is part of our training on Dynamic Array Formulas, which covers new functions in Excel. If you already own our Dynamic Array course, you'll find this new video in the Text Functions section. Dynamic Arrays are the biggest change to Excel's formula engine ever. They are a huge upgrade to what you can do with formulas in Excel.

Note: TEXTSPLIT is only available in Excel 365.

We maintain a list of over 500 working formulas here.

If you need more structure, we also offer video training.

Have a great weekend!
